Clove is masculine and is ruled by the Sun. Its

the land, and you will have certain success. It is
an excellent calming herb.
Catnip is feminine and is ruled by Venus. Its Element is Water. Its magical properties are
connected with cat magic, familiars, joy, friendship and love. As an incense it may be used to consecrate magical tools.
Carnation is masculine and is ruled by the Sun.
Its Element is Fire. Traditionally, it was worn by
witches for protection during times of
persecution. It adds energy and power when
used as an incense during a ritual.
Caraway is a masculine plant ruled by the
planet of Mercury. Its Element is Air. Its magical
properties are protection and passion. When
added to love sachets and charms, it attracts a
lover in the more physical aspect.
Betony is masculine and is ruled by Jupiter and
the Element of Fire. Its magical properties are
protection and purification. It can be added to
incense for this purpose or stuffed in a pillow to
prevent nightmares.
Benzoin is a masculine plant that the Sun rules,
along with the Element of Air. A good purifier
and preservative, it is used widely in
purification incenses.
Bay laurel is a masculine plant ruled by the Sun
and the Element of Fire. It promotes wisdom
and is also a protector, bringing to the fore the
ability to develop psychic powers. It forces out
negative energy.

METHOD
✤ Shred the basil leaves into the container.
✤ Pour the boiling water over the leaves.
✤ Allow to steep for four days.
✤ Strain out the leaves and reserve the
remaining liquid.
✤ Sprinkle the liquid over the thresholds and
windowsills of the business premises and
anywhere else the public is likely to go.
You may also choose to work according to feng shui
principles (see the Pa Kua diagram on page 16) and
place the plants in the prosperity area. The
nurturing of the seeds obviously has significant
symbolism in the growing of the business, so it is
good to have plants in various stages of
development. As you can see, this spell uses
information gained from several cultures, showing
how universal herbal magic can truly be.
Many Hindu families keep a tulsi or Holy Basil
plant in a specially-built structure, which has
images of deities installed on all four sides,
with an alcove for a small earthenware oil
lamp. Here basil is used very simply to enhance

keep it burning. This action honours the
goddess Tulsi who fell in love with Krishna
and calls upon her beneficence.

It helps to combat a variety of bacteria that

Amaranth (cockscomb) is feminine and ruled

magically, it is said to repair a broken heart, so
therefore would be useful in certain love spells
