Draconic Path and the Draconian Path

This post briefly explains the difference between the Draconic Path and the Draconian Path.
The Draconic Path has recently gained a following. More and more people seem to be interested in this path. However, there is often a confusion between the terms Draconic and Draconian , so I will briefly explain what each one means. Keep in mind that these are basic overviews, if either one interests you, I encourage you to do more research into them.

Draconic

This term is used for those who follow the Draconic Path. It is, simply put, working with Dragons and Draconic Energies. Those who practice this path commonly believe in Dragon Guardians and Guides. These Dragons can aid in magical workings, as well as teach and advise us, not only regarding magic, but within normal aspects of our everyday lives.

Please do not confuse this with Draconic Wicca. Which is basically Wicca with Dragons mixed in. The Draconic Path can be practiced in conjunction with any religion, or by itself, that is up to the individual person.

Within the Draconic Path, a common belief is that everyone has a Dragon Guardian that is assigned to them. I disagree with this slightly. My perspective is that everyone has the potential to have a Dragon Guardian. Once you start working with your Dragon Guardian, it is likely it will stay with you the rest of your life (unless of course, you disrespect them and drive them away).

Some people refer to their Dragon Guardians as Mon-Tey. I am not a fan of this term, as it was coined by DJ Conway. I mention Conway because she seems to be the most prevalent published source on Dragons, but from reading her books and from talking with others who have read her books on Dragons, she tends to include a lot of misinformation or she focuses on Draconic Wicca. Which is a bit unfair because working with Dragons is not exclusive to Wicca. Mon-Tey seemingly has no prior meaning and is just something Conway made up for her books. If you want to use the term Mon-Tey you can, I personally just say Dragon Guardian.

On that note, Conway is an okay author to start out with for general information, but the best teachers are the Dragons themselves. Now, back to dragons.

Dragons are revered as higher beings. Some people treat them as Gods. Whatever the case may be, they are powerful beings that deserve respect. Disrespecting a dragon is the quickest way to drive them off and may ensure that they never work with you.

The Draconic Path is not for beginners, it is generally a good idea that you have a solid grasp on the basics of magic before considering this path, or any other magic-related path you may be looking into.

Draconian

The Draconian Path is a Left-Handed Path. It is a path of creation through destruction, self-empowerment and is centered around the idea of transforming yourself into a Godform.

Also, commonly called as the Path of the Nightshade, Draconians work with Deities and Spirits such as Lucifer, Lilith, Tiamat, Belial, and many others. Initiates of the Draconian Path believe they are a living manifestation of Dragons and are messengers of Primordial Beings. There are Dragon Gods and Spirits which Draconian Initiates consider as allies. They continue to work with these beings until they become one with them.

It is not a path for the feint of heart. It requires a lot of sacrifice, dedication, and a strong will to reach the ultimate transformation.

A World Whose Creation is a Myth

Imagine a world whose creation myth begins not with Light, nor even with Darkness, but with a vulture picking clean the bones of a dream we finally admitted was dead.

Our own magic destroyed us in the end. Humanity couldn’t rule after all; our own bodies betrayed us. But for the vulture with her naked head, her naked face, the comforting tent of her black wings discreetly enfolding our dying, there is no shame in an body, no shame in our mistakes.

Every sinew, every organ, is sacred in its undoing. She scented out our grief. She traveled down from the highest pinnacles of the sky to alight upon our bare, helpless bones. Her body is a crucible that destroys every foul pathogen; she comes to cleanse the earth of its suffering. She comes to ingest our unfinished stories, the sweet intentions in our lies, the meat of our devouring, the wounds of our losses, our shapes that once cast shadows.

She comes to recycle them into muscle and wing, and yet remind us they belong to the universe.

Yes, this is our time of belonging.

Imagine a world whose creation myth begins with letting go.

Letting the ugly vulture unbind our beauty, letting the form unwind, letting her prepare us to become the earth. From her nest on the highest cliffs, she digests us and watches the release of our remains now available for new nourishment.

She’s going to live a long, long time, as vultures do, because they eat truth every day.

And for all the thousand ways we resurrect into new lives, new worlds, our of the green heedless fronds of the earth, we are also living up there in her wings, forever, in the absolute stillness of her flight on the skies of forgiveness

Cleansing the Toxins from Mind and Body

We all carry things that o not serve us and only poison our spirits Today its time to cleanse the toxins from mind and body On a small table drape a small black cloth. In the center place visual representations of your slavery to those guilts holding you captive Place them side to side overlapping if necessary As you do repeat the following:

“I gave you my power.”

When you are done placing items observe them for a moment breathing deeply and focusing on the emotions these items represent Then take salt and make a circle around the items saying

“You have no power over me any longer.”

When done observe the items again Absorb the truth of your freedom Breathe deeply exhaling all the toxins from your system Now gather the cloth at the corners and tie off the bundle with a red string and throw it in the trash.

Learning Defensive Magick

This, again, is mostly for working with nature spirits, ghosts, and daemons. Make sure you know what you are doing, and do not start something first. Although you might feel threatened, it does not mean they are malicious or trying to hurt you. Test the energy first, and if you are unwelcomed, leave. You do not want to be powerless against something much, much more powerful than yourself, and you definitively do not want to start something with an entity much more powerful than yourself. This is a last resort.
Keep your magickal space clean. Smudge it regularly to get rid of negativity. Nature spirits do not like unclean areas, especially earth spirits. They will take your things and hide them, or they will disappear altogether. Place protective symbols on your doors, windows, and mirrors. Look into hoodoo and voodoo floor washes if you can, and keep it tidy and looking neat. Recharge your area regularly.
Keep an open-mind. Some spirits just down right hate humans, but have valuable lessons to tell and can be interesting to see as to why they hate us so much. Others like to help and guide us, and can shed new light on situations or turn them around completely. Some may have a very strong dark energy that you might not fully understand, or some may intimidate you. Sometimes a deity will not be what you are expecting, and can frighten you, but remember: they do not go by our human morals or ethics, for they are not of this plane or humanly world.
Be gracious. Give thanks to them, if they were willing to talk or make their presence known. Even if they do not, thank them for listening. Don’t forget about them and put them on the ‘back burner’ because that may infuriate them.

Personal Wards

For personal wards, the same visualization techniques apply, just on a smaller scale. And it’s perfectly acceptable to use a different visualization for your personal wards than you do for your property wards. For example, I find it much easier to use a bubble or a circular containment figure for my personal wards than the webs I use on my home. When visualizing a personal ward, you’ll picture the same construction process, but around yourself rather than a space or a dwelling.

Personal wards move and travel with you. They bend and flex as needed, and can be as large or as small as you like. They can fill a whole room or hover just a hairsbreadth above your skin. It all depends on how much space you need to feel safe and what your personal boundaries are.

Regardless of the size, shape, appearance, or location of your ward, it has one purpose – to protect that which is inside. And once you’ve built it, it generally stays in place until you dismantle it or refresh it. Wards can fade over time, simply from day to day wear of repelling bad luck or whatever harm you’re keeping away. Personal wards generally last for a much shorter period of time than property wards. I would recommend refreshing a personal ward on a daily or weekly basis, where a property ward might only need bolstering monthly or semiannually. Tying personal wards to clothing or jewelry can increase the longevity of the magic, but it will still need to be re-upped occasionally.

Again, you’ll still need to employ mundane safety measures with your magical protections, be they personal or property-based. And if you’re in an unsafe situation, do not, for heaven’s sake, rely on magic to get you out of it. Use common sense and be prepared as far as is reasonably possible.

Suggestions to Call your Magick

Set aside a time once a week to burn a candle. Make it a color that connects to whatever aspect of your life you would like insight or growth in and spend 10 minutes watching the flame and opening yourself to whatever it is you’re seeking.

✨ – If you have any books with pre written simple spells in them (most intro to witchcraft books have a section) flip through it and find a spell that calls to you and do it! As written, just to practice getting out of your head and going through the motions of spell work.

✨ – Send out blessings. To your crush. A new friend. Your best friend. Your mom. Whoever.

✨ – Call up your energy into your palms and then place them on your own heart to send yourself love and healing and to connect yourself to your energy.

✨ – Spend some time picturing the kind of witch you wish you were, your ideal witchsona if you will. Then tell yourself that’s exactly who you already are. Keep reminding yourself whenever you feel disconnected from your craft that you are already an unbelievable witch.

✨ – Go back through your old book of shadows/grimoire and reflect on what’s worked for you in the past.

✨ – Wake up and tell yourself first thing “I am a witch. I am magick. My life is full of magick. I see and feel all the magick around me. I am a witch.”

✨ – Pick out outfits or accessories that make you feel witchy. (Bonus points for intentionally planning a super witchy outfit on the full moon)

Magical Journaling

Journaling serves as an ideal basis for practicing shadow work. In the beginning stages, it is a very basic, low intensity exercise that most anyone can do without worry of incurring any significant mental or emotional trauma– one might experience mild discomfort or aversion at worst. I recommend journaling as a continued practice to track the progress you make through other forms of shadow work as well.

A great place to start with shadow work journaling is by identifying the negative aspects of yourself that you are already aware of. If you have trouble doing this, try reflecting on what qualities you tend to judge in others. As a secondary approach, consider qualities you’ve been accused of possessing– I say this with reservation, however, due to the fact that others may have falsely accused you of possessing qualities that are actually a projection of their own shadow. Once you have identified some of your shadow aspects, contemplate the root of their existence and record your conclusions.

Intention

Be clear in your intentions towards your dreams. Write them down and review them before going to bed, so they’ll be fresh in your mind each night. Examples of your intentions might include:

I will remember my dreams
I will get plenty of rest.
I will wake up 15 minutes before the alarm goes off.
I will record my dreams daily.
I will use my dreams to help me improve my life.

Attention
The more attention you pay to your dreams, the more helpful they will become. Some suggestions:

Buy a special notebook to record your dreams in.
Read books or magazine articles on dreams; look at internet resources.
Think about your dreams during the day.
Talk about your dreams with friends or family.
Spend some time each morning recalling your dreams and think about their significance.
Keep a dream journal.
Join a dream group.
Value your dreams. Treat them with respect. Act as if they are a cherished friend.

Expectations
Our expectations and willingness to cooperate greatly influence the outcome of events in our lives.

Expect to remember your dreams!
Expect to find a clear meaning to your dream.
Expect to get answers to your questions or solutions to your problems.

The Law of Return

Every act which you perform will draw to itself three times the nature of the act. Such is the Law.

This effects not only the acts of each day, but reaches into the future as well. Here the Law establishes those debts which must be paid. Therefore consider well your actions. Nothing escapes the Law, nor is anything hidden from it. The Law does not punish nor reward. It only returns the intent of each action to its origin.

If you step off from a high place you will fall, and this is consistent. There is no intent, there is nothing good nor evil. It may be good to leap upon your enemy from a high place and surprise him, or it may be bad to fall and be injured. But the nature of the descent itself is only the Law. So too is the nature of the Law of Return.

Death

Every beginning is also the ending of that which was before it. Every ending is likewise a beginning of that which is to follow. Coming and going are simply the two sides of the one journey.

Death is merely a change of awareness and of form. It is unfeared by the spirit, but often feared by the personality of the dying one. Yet the realm of death is like the dream worlds to which we journey in our sleep, and just as brief. Know that the spirit always moves to a higher state, and always toward the light. The shadows of death cannot keeps us.

Upon dying we are purified by the laments as we rise into the ether. From life we go to dwell upon the moon (within the lunar and astral realms) and there await our return. In Luna we are given vitality and made strong again.

If the Great Ones, who created all things, have seen within us the purity of light, then shall we go forth to be forged by the Sun and taken to dwell among the Stars, in our new divine form. If this is not to be, then shall we be given unto rebirth (according to our deeds) within the world of physical matter.

Death, Motherhood, and Fertility:

Maman Brigitte, wrapped in allure and mystery, is the Loa of death, cemeteries, and fertility. The short version of the story; she is a badass. The long version is an interesting dive into history and myth from around the world. This loa is a sultry, lively, strong, woman.

Who is she?
Maman Brigitte is the wife of Baron Samedi. Together they are in charge of the randy and rowdy group of spirits known as the Gede (also Guede, or Ghede) family. These are the spirits of death and fertility. The Gede, the Baron, and Maman Brigitte all party like there’s nothing to lose. They are dead after all. Wikipedia states Maman Brigitte as the “Goddess of life, death, justice, motherhood, fertility, cemeteries, crosses, gravestones, women, souls of deceased relatives, obscenities, and passion”. As a bonus her favorite drink is rum infused with hot peppers. Now this is someone I can get behind! In each cemetery the first woman buried there is dedicated to Maman Brigitte. Maman Brigitte is often flamboyantly dressed in brightly colored and seductive clothing. She loves to dance, laugh, and drink her spicy rum. Maman Brigitte, just like her husband is known for her foul mouth. She is a sexy, powerful, and dangerous spirit. Maman Brigitte has the sole distinction as being the only Loa not to originate in Africa. She came all the way from the land of the Tuatha de Danann; Ireland. As a reflection of her Irish heritage, she is often portrayed as a fair woman with red hair with green eyes.

So how did this lass from Ireland find her way into Vodou?
When did she come from?
In the 1600’s the British colonized some of the Carribean islands. They took this opportunity to ship the poor and often Catholic Irish people they didn’t fancy too much off to the Carribean as indentured servants. Those people brought with them their Celtic goddess, Brigid, for protection and comfort. This is how another population who were also in desperate need of protection and comfort came into contact with Brigid. Of course, this is the African slave population. It was there that Brigid met the loa and eventually entered into the Vodou pantheon as Maman Brigitte.

Quick Facts: Color: Purple, Black, Green Symbology: Black Rooster, Rum, hot peppers, crosses, gravestones.

Synchronized: St Brigid Kildare, Mary Magdalene Offerings: Tobacco, Rum, Spicy peppers, black hens

It is known that the Irish called Brigid to them by makeing poppets. These poppets may have been the origin of the popular Voodoo dolls we’ve all seen. Voodoo dolls have become an iconic symbol. Most associate these effigies as being malicious, as a form of revenge a practitioner targetes at someone that did them wrong. This is a complete misconception. Voodoo dolls are typically made as a form of protection, healing, and a means to communicate with those that have passed on.

Maman Brigitte, Light into Dark

Is it realistic to think that a Celtic goddess of fire and spring transformed into a goddess of death and cemeteries? On the surface they seem to be opposites, but their essential nature actually shares more similarities than differences. Both, for instance, are fierce protectors of women. Both have a fiery nature. Both are revered as powerful healers.

What is Maman Brigitte all about?
Maman Brigitte takes her role as caretaker of the dead and protectress very seriously. Don’t mistake the foul mouth and partying as frivolity. She not only looks after the dead, she teaches us to respect and revere them. Maman Brigitte is a strong and ferocious protector of women. She will watch over those who ask for her assistance, particularly in cases of domestic violence or unfaithful lovers. She is a very potent ally who knows women deserve a stable, trustworthy partner. Woe to the mate that disrespects you if you have Maman Brigitte on your side. Maman Brigitte is fierce. She is a loa that does not back down from the truth and will tell it like it is. Her truth is normally peppered in rather colorful language. This is why she is often sought after in matters of justice. If you are in need of justice Maman Brigitte is your new BFF. She is a mighty punisher

Nothing is dead matter in the universe

Nothing is dead matter in the universe. All things exist, therefore all things live, though perhaps in a different manner from that which we are used to calling life. In view of this, the Witch knows that there is no true death, only change from one condition to another. The universe is the body of Godhead, and therefore possesses one transcendent consciousness; all things partake of the consciousness, in varying levels of trance awareness.

Because of this principle, all things are sacred to the Witch, for all partake of the one Life.

Therefore the Witch is a natural ecologist, for Nature is part of us as we are a part of Nature.

November Magick

The month of November comes from the Latin Novem – which was originally the ninth month in the Roman calendar. The last month before the winter solstice in the northern hemisphere, November is the darkest month of the year. The days are short and the nights grow colder, leading up to the beginning of winter. The earth grows quiet during this time. The brightness of autumn has mellowed and a quiet beauty settles over the woods and fields.

Just as the trees and plants settle in for their winter rest, November is a good time to slow down and tend to your home and yourself. No big actions are needed now. Instead, introspection and observation are a welcome respite from the busyness of early autumn. It’s a new Wheel of the Year and time to think about what has been and what is to come.

THE NOVEMBER MOON
The November full moon was known by the ancient Celts as the Dark Moon, Beaver Moon or Oak Moon. The first full moon in the Wheel of the Year, November is a good time to cultivate healthy habits and continue to release negative energy.

CHRYSANTHEMUMS & NOVEMBER
A flower often associated with November in Western cultures is the chrysanthemum. More commonly referred to as Mums, these hardy flowers can withstand dropping temperatures and are one of the last to bloom before the onset of winter. According to the Old Farmer’s Almanac, chrysanthemums symbolize loyalty, friendship, and joy. In Japan, chrysanthemums are associated with youth, while in parts of Europe they are associated with death and mourning.

NOVEMBER AS A TIME FOCUS ON YOUR HOME
Shorter days and long, cold evenings make November an ideal time to focus on your home. Take some time to do a tidying up of your living area and add in some cozy elements such as candles, slippers and warm blankets. Break out some easy evening activities that will help you unwind after a long day, such as puzzles, books or some simple crafts. For me, November evenings include sudoku puzzles and leafing through my collection of holiday books, while enjoying some hot peppermint tea.

Thanks to social media, there is a new standard of maintaining a fall/holiday aesthetic in your home, where everything looks picture perfect. Now, I appreciate a fall scented candle and a faux pumpkin as much as the next person, but when it comes to tending my home in this season, I practice what I call Gentle Cleaning. This essentially means I focus on the main areas of my home that I use the most during this time of year. This includes my kitchen and living room, where I do my best to keep the areas tidy, with a sense of coziness. November is not a time that I do any big, deep cleans or home projects. There will be time enough for cleaning, decluttering and reorganizing in the spring.

Rebirth

The human body will eventually fade away after the death experience. Yet the Soul cannot be destroyed, nor is it subject to physical actions or restrictions.

After the death of the body, the Soul is still connected to its form for three days. For a period of seven days the Soul is earthbound. After this it will be escorted by the Old Ones to the Moon Worlds.

For the Strega the desire is to enter the world of Luna and be prepared for rebirth. The Strega also desires to be born among the loved ones which he or she knew in lives which have passed.

The ancient teachings tell us that the Soul enters a cycle of seven lives through which it strives to be complete. Each cycle is followed by another until the Soul is complete and physical life is no longer necessary.

The memory of a past life is often hidden from the present consciousness so that each life is unique. Yet the memory can be recalled if truly desired. The memory of each life is contained within the Soul. The Soul is the True Self. Each physical body (and personality) is only a garment worn by the Soul. It is not important whether you are a man or a woman, for each is but a small lesson, and you shall be both many times.

The Law of Return governs the life experience and condition in each new life. But beyond all of this is the Underworld. Here are the Souls which are inclined toward evil. Here are they kept in restriction until the Great Ones decree their fate

The Grigori

Before the people walked upon the world, there dwelt those beings which we call the Grigori. Some have called them spirits and gods. Some have spoken of them as powers and forces.

The old legends tell us that the Grigori once were physical beings, but that they are no longer. It is said they dwell among the stars. They are the Watchers of the Worlds, and of the entrances and exits to the Worlds. Once it was said that the stars were the camp-fires of their armies, ever watching over us.

The Grigori have set their towers at the four quarters of the world, and stand vigil over the portals which lay between the worlds.

Once they were called the powers of the air, and so did they come to be linked to the winds. Know now their names: Tago, Alpena, Settrano, Meana.

The Old Ones come to our rituals to witness our rites, for we have a covenant with them. So do they watch over our works and help us. Our covenant with them was established at the end of the Second Age, and from this time so we mark the years of our ways.

The Grigori observe our rites, protect us, and escort us to the Moon Worlds when we pass from the Physical World.

The Act of Rebirth

After the death experience has been completed, then the Soul is made ready to be born again.

When a couple is engaged in sexual union, a whirlpool of energy (a vortex) is created above them. This energy attracts Souls who are awaiting rebirth, from the plane which is harmonious to the energy of the union (the vortex is a composite aura of the couple).

Once attracted, the Soul will be drawn into the female womb and will enter into a new physical life (all conditions being procreant).

Before being born again, the Soul will obtain knowledge of the life to come. Then is the plan realized.

Never forget that your magick

The truth of life is that every year we get farther away from the essence that is born within us. We get shouldered with burdens, some of them good, some of them not so good. Things happen to us. Loved ones die. People get in wrecks and get crippled. People lose their way, for one reason or another. It’s not hard to do, in this world of crazy mazes. Life itself does its best to take that memory of magic away from us. You don’t know it’s happening until one day you feel you’ve lost something but you’re not sure what it is. It’s like smiling at a pretty girl and she calls you “sir.” It just happens.

These memories of who I was and where I lived are important to me. They make up a large part of who I’m going to be when my journey winds down. I need the memory of magic if I am ever going to conjure magic again. I need to know and remember, and I want to tell you.”

Never forget that your magick

The Power of Blood

I’m sure I don’t need to tell you that blood is a powerful thing. This is something that is so embedded in us that we all understand it. Fear and awe of blood goes way back to our earliest human ancestors. The sight of that bright red fluid — whether it was coming from an enemy or friend, your prey or yourself – got immediate attention. Blood is associated with such powerful concepts that some people can’t stand the sight of it, and might faint away if presented with too much. Hemophobia is the fear of blood.

Blood is associated with death: the slain warriors on the field, the victim of violence, the hunter’s prey all lay bloody in their final state. Blood is also associated with life: it’s part of the cycle of fertility that perpetuates life. If you lost too much blood, you would grow weak and die. If your blood is tainted, you will wither.

Blood is associated with pain: you see it when you stumble and fall, have an accident, or fight. Blood is also associated with passion: when you love doing something, when you are good at it, it’s ‘in your blood’. Someone you love, particularly family members, are your ‘blood’. Blood connects you to things, or others. Even if you don’t know someone, you can empathize with them, your ‘heart bleeds for them’. Blood is passion, it’s connection, it’s raw emotion.

Blood is life. It courses through your body delivering oxygen and nutrients to every part of you. Blood is energy—when you push yourself, your heart pounds and your pulse races as your blood flows even faster. A woman bleeds during her menstrual cycle, she bleeds when her hymen breaks, there’s blood at childbirth. If you donate blood you might be saving someone’s life.

Whatever little microscopic bits are floating around in there contain the very essence for all that you are. A scientists can (illegally) clone you if they had just a drop of your blood. Your blood contains your DNA—a blueprint not just for you, but your complete ancestral line.

Something that contains this much power is naturally powerful

Magick Power

Energy—it is what makes up the universe. A witch calls this magic. Energy is the force of life. Energy empowers us to creation.

Indeed it is all about the Magic Powers or direction of energy in our lives. We empower ourselves by building energy through balance with nutrition and health, the kindness karma we create, and the morality in which we live.

As a witch we are a conduit of this energy directly from the Mother Earth—and we must align ourselves to her laws to survive and thrive. Mindfulness of the energy we manifest upon her is raised with more conscience our living.

It is our responsibility the energy we bring. Knowing this is a choice is central to the practice of magic—as we practice so that our choice is the highest possible in any given situation. Our “point” or “situation” is not important—but what we bring energetically is. Ultimately that is all that is really remembered in an interaction.

Keying into the Magic means we choose better, connect stronger, and listen deeper to our own voice and the promptings of our guides and ancestors. We feel the “magic” when we are most aligned with it. When we betray it—simply it dissipates & we feel “separate” from it. Realignment simply requires acknowledging the separation and returning to our center. Choose power!

THE SEVEN RAYS – What Are they

“We are told that seven great rays exist in the cosmos. In our
solar system only one of these seven great rays is in operation. The
seven sub-divisions constitute the “seven rays” which, wielded by our
solar Logos, form the basis of endless variations in His system of worlds.
These seven rays may be described as the channels through which all being
in His solar system flows, the seven predominant characteristics or
modifications of life, for it is not to humanity only that these rays
apply, but to the seven kingdoms as well. In fact there is nothing in the
whole solar system, at whatever stage of evolution it may stand, which
does not belong and has not always belonged to one or other of the seven
rays. ” (R I 163)

The author of this passage is the Tibetan Master, Djwhal Kuhl. He has been
our primary source of information on the seven rays for the past 70 years.
Until the end of the last century the seven ray system was known and taught
only to a limited few disciples and adepts of the Ageless Wisdom. There
have long been hints of this doctrine concealed within the teachings of all
great philisophies and religions, but it has not been systematically
presented, as have astrology or numerology. Astrology, since ancient
times, has been divided into exoteric and esoteric branches. The ray
teaching, however, has remained esoteric and largely hidden from the
world. Only now, within the last seven decades, have we seen the
beginnings of an exoteric presentation of the seven rays.

The reason for the new emergence of this ancient knowledge at this time
seems quite simple. “When the student is ready, the teacher appears.”
Humanity, the World Disciple, is apparently now ready, and stands on the
threshold of a great awakening. New responsibilities, new opportunities
and new light are being urged upon us by the Teachers of the race.
Concurrent with this expansion is the need for a deeper, conscious
penetration by the human race into the essential nature of reality. What
was once occult mystery is now rapidly becoming practical science. Not
only is the teaching on the rays emerging, but so are esoteric astrology,
psychology, healing and many other formerly occult sciences receiving
increased exoteric recognition.

What is meant by the word ‘ray’? The Tibetan answers this question in the
following manner: “A ray is but a name for a particular force or type of
energy, with the emphasis upon the quality which that force exhibits and
not upon the form aspect which it creates.” (R I 316) The seven rays are
seven qualities of energy. Rays do create forms, though the emphasis is
not on the external, but rather on that which lies behind or within the
form.

Modern physics has concluded that all is energy, that within every form
lies an essential network and pattern of energy. The seven ray teaching,
in scientific terms, is an hypothesis that asserts the following: All
energy within form is fundamentally septenate in character. The energy, as
well as tthe forms derived from it, can be described through seven discrete
and archetypal streams.

The seven streams of energy, it is said, are the very vibrations within
matter, space and form which define and infuse all objects, all beings and
all events in manifestation. They combine and interweave to create all the
complex systems we know as reality, from the grandest interstellar
spectacle to the smallest mundane occurrence of daily life. As concepts
they will be found to be familiar, simple and direct of apprehension. They
strike a chord in our consciousness and are, quite literally, closer to us
than breath. Yet the system they compose is as vast and elusive as the
world and the cosmos itself. To truly comprehend and usefully apply this
knowledge can be equally elusive, and is an immeasurable challenge.

The seven primordial energies are beyond complete, exact depiction in
words, or even in thoughts on the planes of this world. They are too
essential and encompassing to be wholly contained or isolated within our
narrow band of the Greater Spectrum. But to stimulate understanding and
the flow of intuition within us, certain descriptive phrases have been used
in connection with the rays. This is a list of some of the more common
synonyms:

Ray One – Will, purpose, power, destruction
Ray Two – Love, wisdom, inclusiveness, coherence, magnetism
Ray Three – Active Intelligence, adaptability, creativity
Ray Four – Harmony through conflict, beauty, sensitivity, unity
Ray Five – Concrete knowledge, science, mind, analysis
Ray Six – Devotion, idealism, adherence, force
Ray Seven – Order, ceremony, organization, group, magic

The ray teaching gives us an energy picture of creation and of life at all
levels of being. It provides a means of explaining the intricate
interrelationships of all things, spiritual and material; and it proclaims
their oneness and interconnectedness.

As part of this energy picture of the cosmos, human beings are, of course,
themselves composed of ray energies. The various bodies or vehicles of
incarnation of the individual human being – the personality, the mind, the
soul, etc. – are said to issue forth on one or other of the rays. The
particular, dominant pattern of vibration within an individual or group or
nation qill establish its constitution, its environment and the keys to
determine the inante opportunities and limitations of the entity.
Practically, it is a picture of the inherent impulse, the immediate need
and prescribed path of evolution.

The psychological application of the ray hypothesis is of particular
interest because it provides a practical energy framework for understanding
the make-up of individuals and groups. The rays of a person, when
determined, studied and understood, will enable that individual, or his
counsellors or therapists, to ‘go to the source’. Knowledge of ones’
energy-essence and underlying vital composition can be invaluable in
developing a balanced program for life, lived in accord with nature
collectively, and with what is individually appropriate and true.

The emanation and interplay of human energy is seen as a reflection of the
energy of the universe. That which is in man is in all things. And,
importantly, it is the energy within that dictates the outer appearance and
behavior of each and all.

In order to undrerstand the “seven streams of force”, we are constrained to
use verbal and numerical descriptions. But bear in mind that any words we
may use are mainly attempts to translate a quality into a form. And, in
translations of any kind, something of the original is always lost.

The correspondences between the ray doctrine and numerology will be
obvious, but the rays are not, in actuality, numbers or symbols or
techniques for divination. They are fundamental creative energies, the
vibrations of our very essence. The following summaries of the rays, based
on research in the teachings of the Tibetan, may help to explain the range
and focus of each of the seven qualities:

Ray One. This energy is the beginning and the final synthesis – the source
of all other energies. It is the essence of power and energy itself. The
first ray is the force of purpose, direction, centralization and one-ness,
of which the will is the keynote. It is characterized by the qualities of
intensity, dynamism, quickness, and dominance. It often results in
detachment, isolation and crystallization. And out of its force and
directness is conceived the powerr of creative destruction.

Ray Two. Consciousness is born of the second energy, in the union of
duality, spirit and matter. This is the source and blending of light and
love, magnetism and relationship, inclusiveness and coherence. It is the
ray of wisdom, sensitivity and intuition, as well as clarity and attention
to detail. This energy is a qualifying, teaching and healing force. It
often results in attachment andd attraction, and, curiously, establishes
our awareness of fear, the antithesis of love and relationship. The second
ray is the energy of the entire solarr system and hence is also a ray of
profound synthesis.

Ray Three. Activity and intelligence work out from this source, a result
of purpose and wisdom. It is the energy of full and great manipulations,
creativity and adaptability. Needs are recognized through this force,
plans are formulated, material is selected and business is undertaken. The
third ray is clear, inherent mental and intellectual ideation in pursuit of
truth, with the objective of manifesting in matter and substance. It is
the power which evokes form.

Ray Four. This energy stands symbolically in the center of the seven and
is the magnetic relation of opposites, the point of harmony, bridging and
mediation amidst conflict, pain and struggle – in a sense, the fruition the
duality rooted in the second ray. It stimulates creativity, art and beauty
and is characterized by sensitivity to color and sound. Discrimination,
quickness and a searching for perfection reside here. The intuitive,
relational force is strong in this ray, which evokes life, love and
understanding.

Ray Five. This is the energy of concretion into substance, of knowledge
and science, and of stimulation in the three worlds. It leads to the
searching, analysis and development of ideas, which in the end produces
light and wisdom. It is the enerrgy of differentiation and investigation
which can lead to separativeness, cleavage and crystallization. But the
thoroughness and discrimination with which the fifth force works in the
mind and the intellect leads the way ultimately to understanding and to the
revelation of truth.

Ray Six. The seeds of all devotion and desire pour forth through this
energy. It generates adherence, intensity and persistence. The
determination resident in this ray is a fiery essence, sometimes full of
force, fury and even fanatical display and militant violence. Abstraction
and aspiration characterize the sixth force, in the sense of an idealistic
nature, loyally oriented toward the causal levels of being. The sixth ray
is the power to recognize what is right and righteous, the upward tendency
and the capacity to see the light.

Ray Seven. This last of the seven is the most tangibly expressive on the
outer planes. It is the quality of relationship between spirit and matter
and is thus magical. It is rhythm which builds, integrates, circulates and
manifests. It is the bringer and producer of newness in form. The
relational power of this ray motivates law and order, rule and ritual,
organization and group consciousness. It is practical understanding and
vital energy externalized, which embodies both the center and the periphery.

THE SEVEN RAYS – What Are They?

by RLP
